When people think of St. Patrick's Day they automatically think of the color green, shamrocks and leprechauns. Let's find out what St. Patrick's Day is about!

St. Patrick's Day is a holiday that celebrates the life of the patron saint of Ireland - St. Patrick.


A saint is someone who is recognized for their virtue and kindness by the community.

To become a saint one would need to have done a lot of good throughout their lifetime!

We celebrate St. Patrick's Day every year on the 17th of March by wearing green which symbolizes Spring. According to popular belief, St. Patrick passed away in Spring.

St. Patrick was originally born in England but later lived in Ireland after pirates captured him as a child.

He lived in Ireland for many years before escaping at the age of 17.


St. Patrick was in love with his second home Ireland and returned many years later as an adult, with the intent to do good.

St. Patrick was known for getting rid of the snakes in Ireland as they believed snakes were a symbol of evil.


The people in Ireland loved St. Patrick because of all the good he did and as such people celebrate St. Patrick's Day to honor him.
